During the lockdown I decided to develop a job based in Fermo in the Marche.
I decided to create aphoto contest Andspring the first100 people that they would have proposed.
THE first days of the contest I receivemore than 700 applications from every part of Italy.
On February 24th, after careful organization, in compliance with the current covid-19 regulations, I started shooting.
It was exciting to learn about the character, work and passions of the people depicted.
During this work, I had the pleasure and honor of photographing the Mayor Paolo Calcinaro,
His Excellency Archbishop Monsignor Rocco Pennacchio; the Carabinieri; the State Police;
Carlo Macchini (National Artistic Gymnastics); Giorgio Olivieri (Italian national hammer throw team); Piero Massimo Macchini,
Ivan Piccinini National Fise Dressage Rider together with his team and the owner of Federico Zechini's horse in the saddle
to Esperado SG.
I thank infinitely every person who participated, every person who applied and all those who contributed to making this project of mine something unique.

THEfaces of 100 people, photographed for rsettle, and pass on to posterity, thehistory Contemporary.

It is the goal ofphotographer Alex Maré, specialized in black and white, which has collected the 100 images in a volume, which intend to tell the historical period experienced.

Portrait photography to tell the story

Thereportrait photography it must not only be seen as material that is going to be lost, but ratherrepresents a glimpse of history of those who live and those who have left over timean imprint of oneself over time.

The greatest difficulty, in a historical moment like this, was the implementation of this work which started from paper and was then carried out in front of one of the most imposing cathedrals in Italy, namely theFermo Cathedral.

Another noteworthy fact is that it is a totally black and white photography book in which they are portrayedEcclesiastical, Military and Civil authorities of all kinds, but also World Champions of the Italian national team of various sports and Starred Chefs.

«Each person has something different» says the author «each of us has something beautiful to show, it is precisely the differences between people that are the basis of human photography, precisely to truly tell what reality is I wanted to do see who lives it every day starting fromCarabinieri, passing throughSELF. the Archbishop to conclude with theState Police».

«I wanted to give a voice to each person and at the same time put everyone on the same level, making it clear that each person experiences something different, with their work, their passions and their being», says Marè again.

The photographic work

The photographic sessions for the 100 faces project in compliance with covid-19 regulations took place in the months of February and March 2021, in the scenario of the Viale della Cattedrale Metropolitana di Fermo.

The volume inside is accompanied by texts edited byMichela Mercuri (University Professor of Middle Eastern History),Maria Cristina Brandini (curator of international exhibitions) eGiancarlo Vaiarelli(expert in Platinum printing).
The introduction is instead by the journalistGaia Capponi.

The Official Presentation

The curtain opened with a Medley by Ennio Morricone, interpreted and rearranged by the two Maestros: Giulio Chiarini on piano and Letizia Illuminati on sax. The presentation was entrusted by Alex to the Journalist Gaia Capponi who dictated the timing of the presentation.

It began like this with greetings and thanks to Alex Mare' from the mayor, the Mayor of Monterubbiano Meri Marziali, who congratulated him for choosing the Pagani Theater and for the results obtained from the opera. We then continued with greetings from the Prefect of Fermo brought by the Chief of Staff Dr. Alfonso Sadotto and by Doctors Andrea di Tondo and Barbara Angelini, immediately after the video message from the Regional Culture Councilor Giorgia Latini who also she congratulated Alex and added that his book will be presented next Saturday at the Turin International Book Fair, together with the Marche Region, with the Councilor of the Marche Region, Marco Marinangeli, also present in the room.

The President of the Province of Fermo, Michele Ortenzi, then immediately took to the stage and pointed out the value of this volume not so much now, but what it will be in the future: that is, it will be a historical document of what we have experienced.

“Alex offered everyone a moment of common recognition” begins the Archbishop of Fermo, H.E.R., in his moment. Monsignor Rocco Pennacchio who also posed for the work of the Fermo photographer.
Then it was time for the Coord. Regional A.N.V.V.F.V. ISP. Samuele Santarelli who explained how the association had also been involved by Mare' in posing for the book and exclaimed "Alex is an example of life, doing these projects but above all completing them, is an example."
The Direction commanded by Francesco Concetti, then sent on video the thanks received from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and the moment of delivery of the work to Pope Francis by the artist from Fermo.

It was then time for the Senator of the Republic to speak,
Prof. Francesco Verducci who underlined the importance of the entire artistic world in Italy and explained how he has already proposed to create protection for all those arts, essential, but without register such as Photography or even Music.
Representing the Lord Police Commissioner of Fermo, the Deputy took the stage. Commissioner Dr. Tiziana Maccari, who after having thanked Alex on behalf of the Fermo Police Headquarters for having made them participate in his work, described him with these words: "You entered our daily administrative life with great grace and simplicity and precisely for this and your kindness the Commissioner told me to thank you for what you have done for us" immediately after the word was given to the Company Commander, Lt. Col. Nicola Gismondi who said "I am convinced that he is he was so good as to capture the soul of all the subjects he photographed in a situation of equality of all social categories, he united everyone by giving hope".
finally the word to the Councilor of Fermo, Sara Pistolesi, who also underlined, as a young girl from Fermo, the difficulty of the work carried out and the determination in completing a work in a period like the past.
Alex wanted his collaborator Andrea Cameli on stage with him in the last part, as when the project began, he underlined the fact that you don't go anywhere alone and that work is based on the team.
Alex's event was one in which the Marche Region, the Province of Fermo, the Municipality of Monterubbiano and the National Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades believed in, giving their patronage. Various Mayors of neighboring municipalities and various other regional authorities were present in the room.
